Weren’t expecting to see a bit of arse were you?

This is the kind of design I love doing but it’s very hard to come by. When I do get the opportunity to work on something cool like this, I jump on it. Anyway, Barefaced was an exhibition held by some students from IADT (Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design & Technology). It wasn’t just a showcase of their work, more of a general imagery exhibit. 

Hopefully Barefaced will become a regular thing. I already have some cool ideas for the next one.

And so, the circle of life makes another revolution. 

This is probably the cleanest design we’ve worked on to date. There was also a lot more information to be digested than what we’re used to but that was all part of the fun. It made us take our usual approach from a different angle and everyone seems very pleased with the result. As it happens, this is also the last of our sites to conform to Internet Explorer 6’s own special standards.

Here’s a project that’s been in the works for a while now. The best way to describe Megalopolus is that it’s an urban rejuvination scheme. It’s run by volunteers who are sick of waiting on their local government to help out in urban areas.

With the help of street entertainers, performers, liaisons and motivational speakers, the Megalopolus collective try to add some fun into the tedium and monochrome attitude of day-to-day city living. As you can see from the design, they are keen to infiltrate a youthful demographic. Top of the collective’s action plan is to avoid political undertones, even though at it’s heart, Megalopolus is very active in local politics and education.

A drawn out but extremely fun project that I can’t help feel sad is over, having been involved creatively since it’s early concepts almost a year ago.

With just one page, the site is very compact. Despite it’s teeny size, it manages to get the message across pretty clearly and quickly with it’s colourful paint pots.

Due to the fairly large images, we’ve used script-generated styling in as many places as possible, notably the content box which makes use of standards compliant translucency and sexy rounded corners.

Take the site for a test drive

Like everyone at the minute, the Refurbz team are willing to take on anything; from painting your living room to building and fitting merchandising space in retail outlets. Our greatest challenge was making the brand cross over pretty much every market out there.

The logo is cool (although it’s a bit of a departure since it uses so much gloss) and there’s some light stationary on the way. What I’m most excited about is the funky-as-fuck website that’ll be launched early next week… Stay tuned.

What I really want to show you is the logo which we’ve just completed. Personally I think it’s a contender for our best identity yet. In fact it’s too good to just stick up here against a white background, so I’ve rustled up this artwork that hints towards Megalopolus’ final brand identity.

Here’s a brand new identity, hot off the presses. Some nice gatefold business cards are done too. I’ll post them during the week once they’ve been printed up.
